Home is where the 💜 is...

On July 12, 2019 we got the amazing news from the NICU pediatrician that Violet was going home!!! The day we had been waiting for was finally here. Billy and I drove to the hospital for her normal morning feeding and as the pediatrician was doing his rounds he gave the ‘ok’ for the nurses to start her paperwork to go home. We were so excited but we were nervous. We no longer had the comfort of the nurses around the clock or the monitors watching her every breath and heartbeat. We had become accustomed to this life with Violet and now we were going home and felt unprepared. All I can remember is putting Violet in real clothes for the first time and being wheeled out to our car. We didn’t have to leave empty handed this time and I cannot express in words how wonderful and full my heart was that day.
